The world needs to go back to the mentality of 1950's.

Rednixon, in what way? In many respects the world was far, far worse in the '50s than it is today. Although we have far to go, we have made strides (at least in some parts of the world) in insuring the rights of minorities, in combating domestic violence and rape culture, and in recognising the normal variation in human sexuality and orientation. We were never closer to full scale nuclear war than we were during the '50s. In the US McCarthyism was rampant.

On the plus side, the devastating gap between the top 1% and everyone else was smaller, and the overweening power of the corporation was less. I'm on board with returning to the greater income equality and the stronger, more secure working and middle classes of that era.

Edit: Annnnd...I seem to have derailed this thread. Let me try again. What the world needs is more honest, open-minded discussion of issues and less polarising bombast, more critical thinking and less emotional reactionism.

More people with critical thinking especially when it comes to information from media and less people with no interest in taking responsibility for their actions.

The world needs us all to go back to basics, and have fun again enjoying the simple things life has to offer.

I both agree and disagree, andiup; tonight for dinner we ate steak cooked over a charcoal fire (can't get much more basic than that, and it was lovely) but with it we had Brussels sprouts (microwaved in a convenient steamer bag), something we in AZ would not get to taste without modern farming and transportation, since our climate is much too hot for them to grow well, even in winter.

It's sad and worrisome to see people, even friends and lovers, staring at their cells instead of interacting and enjoying each other face-to-face, but without computers and internet, I would never have met you in South Africa, and we cherries are all united, old, young, and all over the world, by love of a computer game, a far-flung but caring community of kindred souls.

“There are only two lasting bequests we can hope to give our children. One of these is roots; the other, wings.” — Hodding Carter
Perhaps that is what we must each give ourselves too: roots to stay grounded, to remember the basics; wings to soar joyfully into the future.

Better self esteem (low self esteem seems to be at pandemic proportions) and more humility...

The world needs for each individual to move through life with an intentional spirit of purpose, positive action, compassion and kindness as they leave their imprint behind. :redrose:
