Being an old school pen and paper tabletop gamer, I don't age... I level up. I just reached level 47 last November.

I make no apologies for playing games, reading comics, and generally being a big kid with way too many responsibilities.

It makes me happy and keeps me sane. I'll be playing this game when I reach Level 90! (Along with Minecraft, Skyrim, and 2E D&D).

LOL, May, this is a refreshing way to look at "aging", and I must say I too will be playing my sims game (and some others) until the day I am discontinued!

As I said before, I don't age, I level up.  I'm working my way toward level 48 this year.

I play Sims 2, Modded Minecraft, Skyrim, and a bunch of other games.  I have the Friday the 13th game but I need an upgrade to my PC.  We are trying to find someone to build it for us. Sadly, the guy that built mine is no longer doing it.  It's almost 9 years old and it finally started not being able to play games last year.

I've got a steam account and a whole slew of game on it.  I was playing Rifts and Wildstar (MMOs) for a while.  I just bought South Park: Stick of Truth on sale for $7.  Hubby and I are waiting for Planet Coaster to go on sale because we both want a copy.  I still play a lot of my older games: Rollercoaster Tycoon 2 and the Sierra City Building Series - Caesar, Pharaoh+Cleopatra, etc.

There have also been recent studies that show games benefit seniors increases in cognitive functions and increased grey matter. And you can be mature, handle your business and still play games.  I look at some of my friends who don't play games and frankly, I don't understand how they aren't bored out of their minds.  They go to work, come home, watch tv, go to bed, rinse and repeat.  It's like they are stuck in an endless cycle.

So don't give up gaming, if it is something you enjoy.  You can game and still adult.

May, I can't agree with you more.
I turned 55 the other day, and I play the sims on the pc, and then I have about five games on my i-phone which I play when I have to while away time. And they all involve planning and strategy.
It indeed keeps the grey matter going.

The sims though, I play and create purely for the fun of it. And it keeps me young.... for when a sim is born, I grow with it, and feel sad when they die. I like to weave little stories around my different families to keep it more real and fun.

My husband unfortunately is one of those who does not understand that I can spend a whole day behind my pc. He does not play games at all. The most he will do is to browse the OLX site for cheapies and then fall asleep.
He likes watching certain programs on the telly, but then I have realised when I sit with him at times, that they are all reruns!! Asking him whether it does not bother him to watch the same thing over and over again, he just shrugged.
It would drive me mad. dontgetit

Shemmiesimmer.... age is a relative thing. And in the sims world age does not count. So you will be among us for a very long time! theworld

Thankfully my hubby is a game.  We are huge nerds so we play board game and pen&paper RPGs as well.

We re-watch favorite shows like Firefly but we watch a lot of nerdy stuff.  This is like the Golden Age for nerdy tv.  I can remember growing up if you had one show a year you were doing great.

You are right age is relative.  We have friends our age and some that are younger.  Mark and I don't feel 48.  I'm having too much fun to get old.

Matt, I agree with you! It would be impossible for me to pack away my game.
I even find it difficult not to be able to go in game when I spend a weekend with my kids!

I am totally addicted!
