I know I have seen it somewhere..on a site..I know I have.. runcircle  where you can change Residential Homes to Community Lots or the other way around..does anyone know how to do that..

I just downloaded a Residential home but want to make it into a Community Lot..it was one that was in either The Midsimmer Night's Dream or The Dark Project...one of those 2..

Thank you all for your help in advance feeldaluv

Sam, the only way to do this, is if you have Sims 2 University. If you dont have dorms and Uni, then I don't think it works. But its worth a try. Ive done this many times and it works well.

Bring up the cheats bar (shift-ctrl-c)

To change to a residential type in the box:
changeLotZoning residential
To change to a community type in the box:
changeLotZoning community
Remember to type the letters exactly: lowercase/capitals/spacing or it wont work.
Then hit enter.
For changing to a residential lot, you need to download a buyable trashcan and mailbox HERE
I'm not sure, but i think the community lots have them buyable or they just appear. I cant remember. Check that in game.
Then its all done!  :coffee23:
Place the trashcan and mailbox, save the game and exit to the hood. I then reload the lot to check it.

Reading this, I realize again how easy things are in sims 4. To change a lot's zoning is just two ticks and you are done. You can even live on a community lot..... though you still need a "home" on a residential lot. Only drawback is when you have a baby the game moves you back to your home until the baby is grownup.
Being able to do that, makes it far easier to own a retail shop.

I hope you got it right Sam.

I don't think it will screw the game. Just try it on a test lot and see what happens. If it fails just remove the lot. I can't promise there will be no repercussions, but I have seriously done this hundreds of times in the past!

Thank you Renee :Spring2

When I get the guts to do this will let you all know what happens runcircle

EDIT:
I'm on panic mode now crazyspin

I really thought there was some of those buyable mailboxes and trashcans over at MTS and went and posted..and they are saying the same thing you did tilly..even gave me the same link..

I am just not understanding anything from that site on what to do..never have put anything in a Collections folder just Downloads folder..

And since I have the Ultimate Collection which of those do I use..just to many instructions that I just don't understand dontgetit

EDIT:

Ok this is what it is saying:

For Apartment Life Mailbox to work properly you
must delete the following files if you have them:

In the COLLECTIONS folder 0x6e870b24.package
In the Downloads folder SEDD_BuyMailboxBV.package

Now I downloaded it and this is what I have in the Downloads folder

SEDD_ALmailbox.package, is that correct..

Well I downloaded the mailbox and trashcan..made the lot community..and then I realized Community Lots don't need mailbox..found a phone booth that will work for rustic/medieval..sort of..

Now what how do I know it all works..create a sim and send them there..

Also have a picture of the trashcan and phone booth..will put that up later..when I get it in tinypic..

Thank you tilly for your help :Spring2
