Wow Szanne - that looks pretty cool!! You rock! dancing1 happybounce
Did I tell you that I am having Sims 4 now installed .. yippie ..
but I guess it will need a long time for me (old Sims 2 gamer) to get familiar with it ..
and all the new settings and functions.

Hi Crissi - thank you! :D

Truly, though, I don't think it will be that difficult a transition... building is "easier" and simming is more character based... (from what I hear from those who really play their Sims)... but, the game will look different...

...on that note, there is a lot of cc out there... including tons that have been converted from ts2. The game itself is a whole lot more stable (definitely better than ts3) - I never put a lot of cc in ts2 game, so I cannot give you stability information between ts2 and ts4.

If you have questions, though, let me know and maybe we can also Skype :D

Oh thank you so much for the good informations ...
I've already started the first recolor of an painting .. hihi .. but I am still not satisfied
with the picture-taking. I've used Fraps for Sims 2 - and I am not sure if its possible
to use that for Sims 4 too. Plus - I have not figured out how to take a good picture
in "frontal"-view ... my cam is always kind of angular .. I am not sure if you can
understand what I mean? (Technical english .. is a step more difficult for me .. haha)

Yes, I do get it... do you have a mouse with a middle wheel? If so, go into Game Options and then go to "games & camera" controls and click on the ts3 camera option... Then you can click the middle wheel button to change the pitch (angle) of the camera (your perspective in game)...

Also, I was talking with an interior/picture person and they use fraps with ts4... they use Reshade in game (apparently the game can't see it/think "overlay"), but fraps will take the in-game picture, so you can use it with ts4...

...I don't know how, that is all something I'm going to delve into during December...

I have no help for you with recolors or that sort of thing, lol... right now, I just collect and use cc! LOL

Ahhh ok... I guess thats a great help to fix the issue.
And yes I am having the middle-wheel and give it try later ... can't wait to see the result.

I have not figured out how to get rid of the Grid *funny* (floorgrid in the construction modus) ..
to take the pictures without the grid. Anyway I need to read a lot before I can start using the game.
I've already found a good overview for using the keyboard control

Hit the "g" key (or equivalent) on your keyboard to toggle gridlines on and off in the game...

You will be just fine, Crissi... most of it is pretty user-friendly and intuitive at this point... mostly, it is finding where things are that you already know :D

I still go to the Terrainpaint area and click the display of terrains off to do pictures... of course, making sure gridlines are off...

And, I read somewhere that if you pause in-game with a Sim on the lot, you won't see the outer white lot lines... I haven't tried that yet (on purpose)...

...(I need to go back and look at my Autumn Challenge (apple orchard) pictures to look at the ones taken while I had a sim on the lot and the game was paused... or go and put a sim on a lot and try!?

LOL, Crissi!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Okay - the rest of this post is dedicated to Marie (Tahoe) and her really cool old ts2 BPS challenge of decorating 7 same-layout apartments in one building!!!
~~~It is always a huge challenge and a whole lot of fun for me to recreate builds from ts2 and ts3,
not to mention attempting to capture the original builder's creativity and pay homage to it with mine.~~~

First off, a note - the way ts4 does building disallows terrain elevation changes (cheats)...

...so, no steps up to the front doors, or down into the mini backyards...   ohno

I could have everything raised on a foundation, but then I'd have to have steps up to the front yard and then dig out the yard (and in back), so... not worth it and it wouldn't look right. Fences must be placed along walls unless you have deco pieces (which I have somewhere, so I may go back and change that... but, I'll have to see).

I decided to incorporate a bathroom for each bedroom upstairs, and am still deciding where I want the (now) powder room downstairs ---I really didn't like that you had to walk through the kitchen to get to the only bathroom for the entire unit! LOL    dontgetit

I think I'm just going to make that 3x3 room a laundry and a pantry area and slip a 1x3 powder room along the wall that covers both the downstairs rooms... I am going to go in and play with it some more...

Plus, I much prefer walk-in closets and that is now also a part of ts4, so they are in  :Spring2

...I love the "copy" function that has been added to ts4... although you have to be careful, as whatever is completely closed by walls is considered an entire room, even if only 1 square LOL    giggle

That said, it is a very useful tool for a build like this, as apartments are typically all the same as far as flooring, walls, doors, windows, appliances, fixtures, etc... so, once I get something in the end unit figured out, I can just copy it to the other 6.    omg

It was awesome for the overall unit shape and the roof pieces!    :wohoo:

Yes, I'm a geeky nerd, but I'm having fun.    :hehe:

Here are a few WIP pictures (no cc at this point) to whet your appetite...

Once you get that connected walls are a thing, it is pretty awesome!

...although, when I moved the bathroom and copied it to each unit, there were multiples of the same thing that needed deleting... weird... wasnt dontgetit crying2

Oh, well, lol... No searching and just delete excess - I can do that! crazyspin summerB9 dancing1 cheerleader :winter2016_17:

Really an awesome job Suzanne.. feeldaluv and no CC.. bravo I don't know how hard it is to do that with Sims3/4 but with Sims2 that is hard..I started redoing a house without CC...then my game crashed..never did finish that lol..

It's really fun that you also want to build the house (but I just think it was just an apartment in the competition), but still, the bathroom was a bit poorly positioned it would have been an upstairs too but I determined to build the original layout as there will be a greater challenge in any case for me and I should have built the house without a foundation. The staircase to the upper floor would also have been able to turn on. And not to use any CC in Sims 2 is almost impossible because I do not like the maxis stuff (some things are ok)
I guess the stress on the rest of the images.

Here are the results!  claphands1

Are you planning on decorating each apartment/townhouse individually? I saw the sneak peak in Marie's thread but JUST now realized that is covered parking in the front.  giggle3 I guess it really helps to enlarge each picture to look at it properly. The changes you did to make it your own are good ideas as well.

Thank you, everyone! Marie's challenge is a great project for me... loveflower

I have started adding in a bit (relative, lol) of cc... Madhox's new Sumptuous kitchen was too awesome not use for this build - all the tenants in this complex want high-end goodies, LOL :summerB8:

Yes, those are carports in front and the little building on the right is the office/mail center. polarhug

Marie - I simply cannot help myself when building lol... At this point, though, it will be really easy to go back and make it exactly to the plans and without cc for anyone who might like it that way (if anyone wants it) - I found the fence pieces (I just can't remember if they are also in black... I'll have to see when I get into the game heheheheh giggle

I have decided (if my game holds up) to decorate each apartment for a different family, couple, single, or roommate situation. I was thinking the left end will definitely be at least one female sim who will also be the one that is the live-in property manager. ☕

That leaves 6, two bedroom units to decorate for - who would like to see what grouping in each unit? danceani

My female sim (single and living alone for the moment) will be in Unit 1 - the unit on the left side (opposite the little office). coffeetime

Let me know who wants which unit and what the sim family size is and what they like/style, etc... provide me with a little bit about them - it could be a sim family you already have that can deal with a two bedroom place.

For example:
A single parent with a child or several
A couple with a child or several
Roommates working or going to school
A Single sim (young to elder)
Aliens pretending to be human...

Unit 2

Unit 3

Unit 4

Unit 5

Unit 6

Unit 7

I'll modify this post with who wants what - and if no one says anything, I'll come up with ideas myself - I'm NOT afraid, LOL giggle3

But... I want to celebrate the upcoming holidays for these sims... and that means all kinds of things are possible... f

Mostly, though, it will let me have some of each of you in this build and that is something I would love to do for all of us (and me, I'm not going to lie, lol). grouphug

I haven't done much research on this new game yet, but with City Living are we able to have multiple families live in the same building/lot like with the apartments in the Sims 2?

It would be really neat if you made the other apartments into the homes of cherries from here! That may be a lot of work but it would be so cool to see us all in a virtual world, since we can't all meet in real life until Sam wins the jackpot. giggle

your funny alouette..I missed out on getting a Powerball and Megaball this month..didn't have the money..but come the first I will be getting them for sure one way or the other..

Had to wait for Renee to pay me what she owed me and then I needed a pair of winter boots and a pair of sweat pants..don't have very many pairs of pants that actually fit..and duck tape to put up plastic and printers ink so I can make copies of everything Sims2 related, milk, orange juice, bread..then to get John to go get it for me I had him get a few things lol for himself and the kids..I have $4 left and he needs that tonight to take his girls to Tay's Basketball game..he has to come up with $3 for himself..

Maybe Marie will upload it for you, or you could try to recreate it based upon the floor plans? The grid is still there so should be easy to map it out.
