Ok..I don't want to show the pictures yet..so will have to do this..

You know those Apartments that Suzanne and Marie are doing..those windows in the front there are 3 of them 2 are diagonal..I can't get those windows to be put on a diagonal..I have even done that cheat for 45 degree angle thing..

And then the foundation where the wall is diagonal..when I try and get it like Marie's and Suzanne's..I have a hole in the bottom..

page 9 scroll down

I am going crazy here crazyspin

Thank you for your help in advance..

Off to work on this project..will be back on later

Thank you again.. summerB9

Try it without cheats. When I want to put windows diagonal, I'll make sure that  I have 'moveobjects off ". Sometimes I can not give them diagonally when it is turned on. Also some of downloaded windows (and few maxis windows) you just can not put diagonally. You just can't. Try it with all kinds of windows that you have and you'll see, if you have this kind of problem...

Yes, LoWiSa is right - if a window is made also for diagonal positioning, you MUST have the moveobjects and the 45DegreeAngle cheats turned of. Else you can´t place windows and doors diagonal.

If you´ve turned those cheats off, you´ll get a message, if a window isn´t placeable on diagonal walls.

Thank you Anna and Carmen..for the info on windows..I don't know if these windows were made for diagonal positioning..they are in game windows but some have been recolored..

Now how do I get rid of half of the foundation..on those 3 windows in those pictures of Suzanna's she was able to get rid of half of the foundation on the outside..and have a foundation on the inside..I just know how to get rid of all of it not half..so that leave a hole under those windows that are diagonal..

Now off to find some paint and or wallpaper..I noticed I don't have any CC of those lol..and don't like the in game stuff..at least not for these Apartments..

Sam, because ts4 will not allow multiple ground and foundation heights, I actual did NOT use foundations...

Not one.

Everything is straight ground level for me.

I would have had to build the entire set of buildings on a foundation, then dig out to have ground level in the front and back yards... while possible, the front and back gates would then have to have stairs going up and then going down, lol...

I thought I'd mentioned that (no foundations) somewhere in my posts... I apologize if I did not.

Basically, I had to adapt what is possible in ts2 to the ts4 building rules... :(

Also, I do believe Anna and Carmen are correct (this same issue happened in ts3).

Not all windows/doors can be built on/in diagonal walls.

Move cheats have to be OFF.

I hope this clears up your questions about foundations...

...maybe go ahead and not use them for your build - It wouldn't be a problem to anyone if you did not recreate this build 100% as most of it happens inside. :)

you probably did mention but I didn't see that..in the pictures it looks like you had a foundation..so do you know how to get rid of half of the foundation..

If not then I will be building it all on ground level as well..with no stairs..got all of the foundation..outer walls inner walls and ground floor walls and floors in..roof..and all that done..If I can't I may just keep the foundation where it is and work around that..

Have to do some thinking on this lol..

Thank you Suzanne..

Take a look at this link, Sam:

http://www.wikihow.com/Use-the-Build-Mode-Tools-in-Sims-2

They explain how to use the diagonal foundation tool :D

(along with some other cool ts2 building tricks!)

All windows will not turn diagonal that was why I was trying me until I found some that worked and at the same time stylish. As for the foundation I will build first a regular basis with straight edges, then I build the diagonal. In your build folder with the bases you have two to choose one makes straight edges while the other makes the diagonal edges, I hope you understand what I mean. The roof I built free-hand, and it was very difficult to get it nicely over the beveled edges. The same applies with curtains part of MAXI's curtains can not be put on the diagonal so you have to try different curtains and even use cheats.

Thank you so much Suzanne..I of course bookmarked that giggle

Marie..part of that I understood..I will have to go check it out and see what you are talking about..will be doing that here in a bit..

I changed that Apartment complex..a lot..just couldn't see a kitchen in a 3x4..and made the downstairs open concept..kitchen, dining and living room..then upstairs the 2 bedrooms and I also added a bathroom to each room..still keeping the bathroom downstairs..I made what was to be the kitchen a mudroom..

Then I needed a space for recreation..so built a third floor..and that will be a gym, and many other things to do up there that will be shared with all 7 Apartments..

I also had to add extra hallways onto the back..for stairs getting up to the 3rd floor..

I know I should have kept everything the way it was supposed to be..and do a challenge thing on what was there..but I just couldn't do that..it was driving me nuts..

I also added parking on one side but only could get 4 parking spots..then a swimming pool on the other side..then a garden, orchard, play area, and a fishing pond..put with a community lot I couldn't put down the parking..maybe once I get people in there that will change..I hope..will be adding Chickens as well..they have to have food right..so they don't go spending all their money on deliveries lol..

Oh, Sam - That's Wonderful!!!

Seriously, this is about creating a 7-unit apartment building and then decorating each unit differently... if your layout is different, that shouldn't bother you.

For me, my decision to do this was it looked like a really fun project that would challenge my decorating abilities...

No matter what you do, it is not wrong - it is perfectly right :D

Again, mine is not the exact same as Marie's, either (mine has no foundation).

Changing it to what you want to build is exactly the idea behind recreating things you like :D
