Thanks Anita, that helps a lot.
Sam, I'm sure you'll work it out it is a lot of fun. I can't remember TS2 much but do the Sims not age up if you don't play them?

Nikki, no the sims don't age up if you don't play them..they pretty much stay the same..

If I do this Legacy..I will have to play all of the family...just do the legacy part with the heir..that is the only way I can do this..I will have the main Legacy home..but do the Legacy with each of the homes..and just post the main Legacy here..

Sam, it was ages since I last played sims 2. Do you not have a setting that auto ages the sims you are not playing with?

If so, just activate that and you don't have to kill off any sim. That is not what the legacy is about at all. Remember, you may keep them all in the house.
It is only when they move out that you will not be allowed to actively play them anymore.

I understand though, that playing a legacy and adhering to the challenges it posed, may not be to everyone's liking. This challenge is voluntary, if you do not like a legacy, you can enjoy the tales of the players who do play the legacies.

It is fun though to read what the sims come up with, and how the different games allow the sims to grow.

You have to use a Mod I think to age them up..
I think though when I do start this challenge..I will be starting out with the homeless challenge..and then move on to the other one..but..yes there is a but lol..I will play all my sims..just post the legacy sims here..
Still working on my stupid downloads..a lot of them are not being able to be moved because something is to long..so have to go looking for that object to redownload..my link to the booty isn't working anymore and I need some things from there..does anyone have a working booty link..lol..and I need some of my mods from there as well..

Okay, I know the rules say you can't use any type of money cheat, but can you use it to get rid of the money instead of buying a huge lot?

testing cheats on then "money 0"  ???

I suppose you can Cin.... I was not aware of that cheat.
Do you then do this after you bought the lot you like?
I would love to see another legacy here, so really hope you will be able to join in.
I still have to update mine, but was so busy these past few weeks.

Yes. I buy the lot with nothing on it, then use the cheat and it instantly drops my money to 1800 (or whatever I want it to be)

CTRL+Shift+C then type in testingcheats true hit enter then type in money X and hit enter again. Should give you whatever "X" is (example: money 1800)...I use it a lot to add or subtract money when I'm playing. Easier than motherlode.

Please note: this is a Sims 4 cheat. I have no idea if it will work form Sims 2 or 3.

Also, I've started my legacy game. "Cherry Blossom" is my character :) She's doing pretty good so far. We actually have a simple one room house now...even a roof :)

I have a whole list of cheat codes like this I would be happy to share. Just not sure where I would post them. Also, you need to be aware I found these cheats in various places across the sims community. They are not mine, but they work. Should I post them and if so, where? I can add them to this post if you want.

Cin I know about the list, but if you have any that would work well with the rules of the legacies you can post them here. I would really appreciate that.

But for the benefit of the other players I think you can post the list in the Game Help section if you don't mind. That would be just great!

I know this was posted awhile back now, but it has given me some inspo as to what I can do with my sims as my current game is getting a little boring (I'm on generation 5-6 everyone is related in my world haha) and I wanted to start a new one. Thanks guys :)

Eliza, I am so glad you mention that!
I also have a saved game where I am in the fifth generation. Actually the fifth just started. I move them around the different worlds, and give them new houses just to keep my creativity going.
I love how they are all related. They love to visit each other.
Unfortunately I can't share them here in the Show and Tell, I never kept the families updated with pictures.
But I remember each and everyone of them.
It would be wonderful if you can start a legacy to share with us.
If you don't feel inspired by any of those we have feel free to post what you would like as a challenge in your legacy and I can create it for you.

Tips:

I love playing The Sims and creating families, but I can never seem to stick with a family long enough for a legacy. I have been playing the sims for years and have never created a legacy from one family. I love watching legacies on Youtube but I cannot get it down lol.

Does anyone have any tips on how to stick with one family for a legacy? (I am not sure if this fits into this category but I am curious). :)

Thanks.

You are welcome!Since we all play the game differently there are different challenges added.
I played the Homeless Legacy, and the challenge ends as soon as the sim is not homeless anymore.

I added the Full Family Challenge. You can read more about it here.

The rules are a bit more relaxed to allow gameplay.
I will soon add the legacy family I started playing with when I moved on to sims 4. I am in the fourth generation, and have 12 families to play. And the total is still growing. It allows me to change between families but still playing the legacy.

The rules to the others are quite strict and do get boring at a point. I do have a one family legacy, but I must admit, playing on the same lot for ten generations is in itself an extreme challenge. I have not achieved that yet, though I do have the family saved.

You may like the full house legacy instead.
