Ah Suzanne, you are so sweet!

It works like this for me: I play..... then I have a child who has to move out of the parental home (the youngest child if more than one, "inherits" the parental home), and I have to get him/her a new home. That leads me to building or renovating a house. When I start decorating, I have a few ideas ready, and when I cannot find what I need, I just make my own stuff.

So with the one house done, there will soon be another.... and so I carry on for hours in my little sim's world!

I actually love playing the game.... and have my own little stories and family histories. giggle

Here I am looking at your last photos again. I especially really like the last one (besides that navy wall of course!). The little details I keep noticing like the reflection of the curtains in the mirror and the way the sun falls on the floor. Looks like a cozy spot to read a good novel and sip some tea.

I just get really caught up in the building (and the pre-building: visiting sites, downloading, etc.), lol...

LOL..... that is true about me as well!
I have a ton of downloads saved but very few of them installed. It makes the game slower so I revisit my mods folder very often.

Smart, Anita...

...I'm more of a masochist - I download, install, delete duplicates, check for conflicts, update/repair game, and click play. runcircle

About 1 1/2 to 2 hours later I come back and actually get started LOL flirty

My problem is I never know what I want to use when I set out to play!

A new update

Just a few screenshots of one of the houses I am busy with. I am not done with the living room yet, but I like how the kitchen/dining came out, so I thought I would share it with you.

Just a bit of history: The mother in the house was busy preparing lunch for the family when the stove caught fire. The little boy was at school still, and the father at work..... so no one there to put out the fire, and the poor poor lady died.

I allow my game to run it's own course, so when this happened I was just as sad as the husband when he got home  to find a tombstone on the kitchen floor! ohno  omgtext

He is still a widower.

anidup,

What a beautiful home. I love the color scheme and the decor is perfect for the style of furnishings.

Is this for Sims 3 or Sims 4? The pics are wonderful.

This home is very beautiful and looks so cosy. Your pics are gorgeous.   claphands1

The story of this family is like in real life, sometimes cruel and so sad for the child and his dad.

I remember my first sim (self-sim) who is dead accidentally leaving her little boy and her husband. It took me a while to recover. At that time, some of my sims died in my game without my knowing why.

I was a beginner at that time and I probably download a hack without knowing it.  ohno

Thank you Crissi for this gorgeous sign

Houses with histories are just as interesting as the actual house itself. You've done great pairing everything together.  claphands1

Anita! summerB7

I love the baufive doorway... (it is by baufive, correct?)

I've been working on my B.A.D. build with a sim on the lot to make the apple trees have fruit... Oh, my, now I remember why I don't generally play any sims - mine just wants to sit and watch TV!

You are amazing! claphands1

Sam: Yes I did get a screenshot, I hoped I would somehow be able to save her, but someone had to put the fire out..... I realized later that I forgot to put up an alarm.....

Easter: It is for sims 4. It makes me happy that you like the style!

Dany and Alouette: I have a little bit of history to all my families that I play with. I do not like them dieing when they are still young..... too upsetting for me. And the father was sad for so long he did not want to do anything! He did not even want to prepare anything for the boy to eat, so he had to eat yogurt the whole time. But they are both fine now.

Szanne: You are a dear! Thank you for your kind words. Are you referring to the door leading to the living room? It is part of a buildset by Mutske I think. I will check for you when I go in game again.

I am sharing with you a quick preview to a new mesh project I am working on ( thought I would be doing recolors for the toddlers, but got totally distracted! rofl301 )

This set could be for the decorators out there. I don't like to always have straight walls which only allows one to put objects against it for some dimension.
If you do not follow what I am saying here is a preview picture:

If you want a wall in the middle of a longer wall and you use the wall tool, this is how it comes out. A huge block in the middle making everything else look out of place.

I want my rooms to look a little different and the set I am working on will in the end allow one to do much more. This is only part of what I have done, and there will be lots more to come, but here is another preview:

See how the wall is more in line with the console table? I just love it!

There are drawbacks though, since the new wall does not work like a real wall, so you can't hang something on it, but I am working on a way to fix that.

Now...... back to the drawing boards.

I love this idea. It really adds character and a new design to a room.

Oh Anita, How sad is that story! I get too attached to my sims..I don't want anyone to die.
Your rooms are lovely I always felt Sims 3&4 make dreary scenes these are wonderful.
Did I see someone mention  using windows 10? I thought this could not be done. Do tell!

Oh, Anita - that would be really, really cool!

I like false walls, except for the part where you can't put anything on them!

The walls are actually working better than what I expected.
The only solution is to do "fake" paintings. Amazing what one can do with good textures. And since the walls are "fake" the paintings can be too! rofl301

I thought of redoing the meshes so to include a mesh for a painting against the wall, but then I would have to make so many different versions of every single wall to accommodate different types of paintings and sizes, that I thought to just stick to "adding" a painting with textures.

The good thing that I discovered when testing recoloring, is that my 4 tile wall is just the right size for wall murals. And if you have tried putting together a wall mural by recoloring EA walls you would know how difficult it is to get the walls to display correct thereafter. So now with this wall, one tick and you have beautiful murals!

I am currently doing a set of half walls..... naturally also "fake" but they do work as surfaces. So one can stack them full of goodies. Now you may ask why a half wall if the game offers us half walls. I want a half wall right close to the real build wall, and EA does not allow for that. So now, we decorators can have loads of fun putting the half walls just where we want them.

I will soon show some that I have made.

Getting the size of the uv map right to take on the EA wall textures is quite a pain. But I am slowly getting there. Everything is actually trial and error at this stage.

Look at this:
