The walls are actually working better than what I expected.
The only solution is to do "fake" paintings. Amazing what one can do with good textures. And since the walls are "fake" the paintings can be too! :rofl301:

I thought of redoing the meshes so to include a mesh for a painting against the wall, but then I would have to make so many different versions of every single wall to accommodate different types of paintings and sizes, that I thought to just stick to "adding" a painting with textures.

The good thing that I discovered when testing recoloring, is that my 4 tile wall is just the right size for wall murals. And if you have tried putting together a wall mural by recoloring EA walls you would know how difficult it is to get the walls to display correct thereafter. So now with this wall, one tick and you have beautiful murals!

I am currently doing a set of half walls..... naturally also "fake" but they do work as surfaces. So one can stack them full of goodies. Now you may ask why a half wall if the game offers us half walls. I want a half wall right close to the real build wall, and EA does not allow for that. So now, we decorators can have loads of fun putting the half walls just where we want them.

I will soon show some that I have made.

Getting the size of the uv map right to take on the EA wall textures is quite a pain. But I am slowly getting there. Everything is actually trial and error at this stage.

Look at this:

Anita,

You are amazing. I love your ideas and these wall textures.  I have considered buying Sims 4 several times because of all the wonderful artwork and new meshes.

OOOOOoo, I like, Anita!

I hope they end up meeting your satisfaction so you will feel like sharing them!!!

Might you possibly be able to make a verticle half wall while you're at it? (only three sizes tall, lol).

...listen to me say only, like I have a clue as to what you have to do to do what you've already done!

(and if that didn't twist your tongue and your mind, you are wide-awake! LOL)

Alouette: Thank you so much for the comment. It really really makes me so happy!!

Anneke: I am slowly getting over my "fear" of posting the rooms/houses I work on. All the kind comments from all the lovely people here who are so much more talented than I am have given me the courage to share more. Thank you to you too, because your amazing talent has inspired me so!

Szanne: LOL!! Having  "fake" pictures on the wall is the only way of solving this for now. I have to keep the uv map in the correct size for the wall textures to work on it correctly. It is after all supposed to be a wall hey... giggle
I must admit, I have been remaking these quite a number of times, and have figured a way to get the textures right. I am currently working on half walls in different heights as well. All the walls I have done so far are for the short walls only. I intend to do a set for each wall height. At least when I get to making them for the other walls I would be able to do so with my eyes closed.!!

But, let me show you what I have done so far:

I felt so inspired by by own creativity that the room more or less just fell together, and I loved it!!

Oh, These are so wonderful!

You are very talented, my friend... Thank you for sharing <3

I cannot wait until you are done with them.

btw, reminding you of my question concerning vertical half walls... (or vertical quarter/three quarter walls!)... any idea if they are doable?

Most definitely! I can just chop the full wall in half, giggle Fortunately with Blender the grids on the floor corresponds with the grids in the game. So I can do that for you especially. Will jump into that idea today and keep you posted!
Btw: I love making things even more when I know there might just be someone out there using it too!)

Sam: basically they are just objects but in size smaller than the EA walls since in build mode you work in full squares and hull height, except for the half walls in build mode. So I wanted to create the effects shown in my pics and that you cannot do with the EA build tools.

Alouette: Thank you for the kind comment, I do appreciate it a lot.

Anneke: How lovely that you would be able to do that in your game too. And it make me so happy that I am inspiring you too!

Sam - have you ever wanted to move a wall somewhere it isn't allowed?

That is what fake walls allow you to do, as they are considered objects by the game (like a table, or a deco item).

This allows putting "walls" anywhere! It makes building more interesting, even if they aren't real, lol

Suzanne, well in Sims2 you can put a wall anywhere..and having a wall as an object just don't make a bit of sense to me lol and I can't see a wall as an object..and since the wall is painted I know that is a fake wall otherwise I wouldn't even know where that fake wall is..so I am still confused as ever..but that is ok..I'm always a bit confused giggle
