I small update before I post the next pictures.

The first thing to do was to get the garden sorted.... the fear that there could be a severe mice infestation, brought Fiona a lot of worries. She was very relieved when the clean-up began, to find that there were only one or two still lingering around.

She had the grounds cleaned up, invested too much on having the new lawn, and could therefore only buy a few plants, at least to brighten up the path to the front door.

The inside of the house proved to be more of a headache than she and her husband anticipated,
when they were faced with the following:

Leaking plumbing, electricity wiring which was almost non-existent, the first floor's wood planks were completely rotten away, the stair railings were broken to pieces, vagrants had removed doors and all other fixtures to the house, the cupboards in the kitchen were so filthy that not even a good and thorough scrub could make it acceptable for Fiona, which meant that almost all of them had to be replaced as well.

The stove was still good and surprisingly clean, and Fiona liked the idea of keeping something that came with the house.

The original doors, those that were left, were exactly what Fiona wanted, so she had to commission a carpenter to have similar doors made..... another huge unplanned gap out of her budget.

She wanted the house bright and shiny and decided on huge windows, and all the clapboards had to be removed as well. The flooring Fiona decided on, were lighter in color, and she loved to see how that contributed to the house being airier at the end.

She could hardly wait to move in family!

Eww a house chewed by mices and the gloomy atmosphere of the house reminds me of a haunted house.awesome story though and yes I do agree with Fiona , if the stove is clean but at least non functional she can call the repairperson and it'll be functional once again.Or she'll use elbow's grease.Better to keep eveeything she can , to avoid to destroy the house soul.

It took Fiona and her husband a few weeks longer than planned to be able to move into their new house. The new paint to the wall panels were barely dry when she started to move the furniture in. Fiona and her family were very excited about moving into their new house.

But, on the very first night, Deidre woke with a terrible noise rumbling right under her bed. She lay there with her heart beating uncontrollably in her chest, she could hardly breath and was at first too scared to get out of bed.

She got all her courage together to put on the bedside lamp.... only to discover a monster under her bed!

She could not believe her own eyes! She slept in this bed all her life, and never experienced something like this. She was jumping up and down at first and then decided to wake up her dad. He is strong and brave and will be able to get rid of this scary thing in no time!

It took a while to make her father understand that there really is something lurking under her bed, and for him to get up stiff and tired from the day's hard work. He had to move furniture around again and again before Fiona was at last satisfied of the room. He did not have the patience to go monster hunting with his daughter.

When he at last got up and saw his child being really terrified, he felt guilty for not believing her, and went with her to her bedroom..... only to find that there is really nothing under her bed.
But Deidre was adamant, there is a monster with horrible tentacles waving in the air, just reaching out to grab her.

But still, her father was unable to see the monster. Deidre began feeling more at ease when she realized that the monster is not moving from under the bed, and she decided to talk to it, to find out why it is there. She spoke nicely and asked a few questions but was blatantly ignored by the monster. She thought if friendliness is not going to help, then maybe yelling would do the trick. But still, there was just low rumblings every now and again.

She was way too excited to go back to sleep and decided to keep the light on and make some drawings on her new drawing table.

     **************************************************************

Before I could see what the monster would do next, the child literally turned into a teenager, and that made the monster disappear forever.

I will be uploading the pictures of the interior tomorrow. Just wanted to share the monster story here as well, since it happened in my renovated house.

monster under the bed was all about.  omg

Do you have to start over with a new family?

Yes, to be able to see what the monster is all about, I will have to have a family with children, at least two so I can also properly check out the void critter battle station.

The family is almost sorted in their new home. Fiona is content (for now) with what she has made of the first floor. She will be inviting her friends over for tea soon, and Wayne is already planning on having the older children over for a barbecue.

This is the entry:

And the living room:

I started out with this look:

But Fiona wanted this:

Fiona liked the layout of the bathroom downstairs, as well as the cabinet above the toilet. One always need space for that odd item that you just can't get yourself to throw away.

The dining room faces the colder side of the house, and Fiona is still planning on having a fireplace there too, but Wayne insisted that they wait with that for a while.

This is the first attempt to decorate the dining room:

But this is the final product:

You will have to pardon the mess in the kitchen... Wayne just had his birthday cake for breakfast and was still busy cleaning up the dishes. As you can see he is quite shy for the camera!

Fiona had the landing area extended and she and her family can now spend the evening here before they turn in for the night. Deidre is making good progress with her piano lessons and they love to spend time with her while she practices.

You already had a peak into Deidre's bedroom, since she turned into a teen she is insisting in having new furniture as well. All this spending is causing Wayne having more and more grey hair!

Deidre's bathroom:

The en-suite bathroom;

The main bedroom:

And as a bonus:

Deidre and her older sister, Briana spending time together:

anidup,

I love, love, love this house.  I could start with the wood
paneling on the wall, then the cozy furniture, then the
details you added in each room.  And, of course, the
piano space in the family area.  Way Cool!!!

Actually, I think I love the family best and their interaction
with each other.

Great Job!!!!

Sam: I actually uploaded the two threads the one after the other so not to have too many photos in one thread. And the monster..... well my little girl aged up unexpectedly, and the monster can only be seen by children. I have played it in another household, and the children befriended the monster very quickly, but the monster does not do anything else than to make a noise in the middle of the night, waking up the child, who in turn wakes up the rest of the household. So now I will have an adult spray under the bed before the children go to bed.

Anneke and Marie: Being such great creators yourself I feel flattered!

Thank you to every one taking the time to visit the album and to leave the comments.
I love you for it.
