This is the main reason why I wanted to just recolor for TS2 instead. I like to create rooms that have different objects in them than what is out there, so I convert a lot of stuff to use in my room creations.

Most of the things in this room are all TS2 objects that I have converted. But I'm not happy with it, I'm not sure how to fix them and after I try so many different things that tutorials say to do and it doesn't work, I get fed up and put it aside and move to something else.

Take for example this pic:

Everything looks good me and I'm satisfied with it except for the dress ... those ugly shadows on the skirt and how it's darker than the bodice (that's the same texture btw) and the pillows are irritating me, again I used the same texture on it, but it's a different mesh and one is the color I want, the other is blinding bright white, I did the exact same thing when I converted them, and I don't know enough about blender and meshing to know if it's a mesh problem (or even how to fix it).

So, here's one of my rooms that I put aside:

Walls and Floor - TS4 by EA
Painting - TS4 by EA
Vanity - TS4 by EA
Vanity Chair - TS4 by EA
Ceiling Lamp - TS4 by EA (modified by me so it wasn't so hideous looking lol)
Table - Orig TS2 by EA
Chair - Orig TS2 by EA
Mirror - Orig TS2 by EA
Bed - Orig TS2 by EA
Dress - Orig TS2 Mesh by Steffor
Shoes - Orig TS2 Mesh by Simsconnection
Tiara on Pillow - Orig TS2 Mesh by Simsconnection
Pillows & Blanket - Orig TS2 Mesh by Jonsie & Jope
Flowers - Orig TS2 mesh from someone at MTS that I can't find the name of right now

Curtains - Orig TS2 Mesh Parsimonious (modified by me to stick out 3 feet from the wall)

TJ, I have that issue in game... sometimes it's a lighting issue, other times it is that some things by the same creator using the same colors and textures and fabrics don't quite look the same...

I think it might be this issue that you're dealing with.

Other times, I can use items from two or three completely different creators and they look perfectly fine together!

Maybe reach out to Conny (oldbox) or Anita (andiup) and see if they're run into this issue and what they've done to resolve it.

I have encountered this as well.
What I found in one instance was that the original map's bump map was shaded differently. I can not explain why the colors come out differently if the whole mesh has one map.
Do you bake your meshes to get the shadows added?

Anita - I am so very very new to blender, I am still not great at it. I've only actually been able to create something new in the last few months. I have tried several times to bake shadows onto things and they just don't turn out, it causes big black triangular jagged parts on the baked texture, they're not smooth. Normally I will use the UV Map as a guide as to where the shadows will be on the object and just paint highlights and shadows on the texture with dodge/burn in my image editing program until I get the effect I want. But with this skirt it's very hard to tell where the shadows will be.

I don't think that most creators used baked shadows for TS2. It's a process of making a shades of gray and white and black texture of your object in blender, that creates variations of light and dark areas according to how the light hits it. So that say, table legs aren't all one color, they're darker on one side than they are in the front, or shadows on seat cushions where the back of the sofa or chair and seat meet, things like that. Then you take that texture and use filters in your photoshop or your image editing program and overlay it or use multiply filter on top of your fabric or wood texture to give more realism to your object.

Ok, wow..your explanations are so..geeze I am having a brain fart on what to say..lol
let's just say usually when someone tries to explain something to me it goes right over my head..but you have it where I actually understood most of that lol..and it's exciting to understand all this..or at least most of it..lol
Thank you TJ

Most welcome! I still don't know a lot and I've been "creating" for years. I played Second Life for many, many years and that's how I learned a lot of things. I have a little marketplace store where people can buy my things (with game money) and use them. But, it's all clothing tho. I never ventured into furniture or decor for that game because it's not like the Sims where if you clone a chair, those animations remain with that object because it's a chair. In Second Life, you actually have to add an animation engine to your object, then line up all the animations so they're correct. Not only is it time consuming, people moan and complain about your things a lot too. lol

LOL Luckybee! You must be a girly girl too! Yes, I love white with tiny baby pink accents (my RL bedroom is like that)

I'll try to figure out the pillow issue and maybe find another mannequin or just nix the mannequin altogether and put this up for download soon!
