Ok Sam ... for this purpose you´ve to learn how to recol ... and in this case specially a Sims 2 picture/painting.
That´s a bit more difficult as creating a wallpaper or mural. You have to deal with the SimPE tool and this will take a little more time than dealing with the HomeCrafter tool.

The size of a texture you turn into a picture/painting depends on the picture/painting size. And the things, that belong to it (like the frame and - sometimes - other components).

Here an example - this is the painting 'Lady in Red' (I hope, the name is tranlated correct - in my german version of Sims 2 it´s called 'Dame in Rot'):

For recoloring you need the original texture. You have to extract it with the SimPE out of the painting mesh. Then you can put your texture/picture over this texture in photoshop (or another graphic tool). The original texture looks like this:

Just compare it with the 'look' of the painting in Sims ... the lady looks a bit clinched and is mirrored horizontal. At the bottom you see the frame and the backside of the painting.
You have to regard this in your graphic work. You see, that the frame consists only of one part. So you cannot use a full frame picture when you want to change it. You allways have to do some work on the frame yourself (for example cut out a part of a predefined frame picture).
Here an example of my vintage bouquet recols I created on this mesh .... this is my 'overwork' of the original texture:

I changed the painting content and the frame. The backside (and back frame components) are not changed. And so it looks like in the game:

I suggest, that you should approach recoloring slowly and step by step with easy tasks. Your idea to start with recoloring a Sims painting with one of your murals is the right way.  claphands1
We should choose a painting where not so many obstacles have to be regarded (like mirroring and things like this) and that matches good with the size of your mural pictures.

For this purpose this painting is very suitable (in german it´s called "Zwei Hunde mit Olive" - don´t know the english name):

But first you have to learn the work with SimPE. I hope, that could be done in the 'be a colorist' contests and I will post an idea for a matching project I thought about for some days.

runcircle nope not ready for recoloring.. shame

Why do I have to recolor something to make a picture and then frame it..why can't I do it without recoloring.?????

I will stick with wallpaper, paints, and murals lol..

Thank you Carmen..for trying...I just went into panic mode crazyspin
