Hi all. Don't know if anyone has ever heard of this before but.......

I gave my sims 3 to one of my daughters now that I have sims 4. She was really happy because she has 2 little boys and a very small income. so life is a struggle and she could never afford to buy the game. She installed the sims 3, got an EA account and started to play.... Yesterday they cancelled her account, no warning or anything.
So she got on the chat with them and asked why? The answer they gave her was that the game was first registered some place else...... duuuuuh, my computer.
So I phoned EA in Amsterdam..... Asked why they would not let my daughter play the game. Its a legal shop bought CD, I gifted it to her. No, it can only be registered once was the answer I got.
Only way for her to play is one of us has to be off-line.
Now I asked him "what am I to do with all the sims 2 CD's in my possession? and all the sims 3? I cant even give them away because they have been registered already. I have never heard such bullsh1t in all my life. What about all the people who are buying 2nd hand games because new is just too expensive for them? I am so angry about this.

So what it boils down to (according to EA Amsterdam) is that a game can never be passed on any more. Any ideas anyone?

timmer man

I had heard about it this ,
I do not know what you can do about it
It is also quite logical
Because most simmers play online
And if the game comes into new hands
Then strange things may happen
I think it's about security
The best is to buy a new game!

Hi Timmer_man2003, I know that in years past it was like that with other games. I mean you could obviously install and play the games using the serial code on the CD case, but if someone had already registered that serial number with EA then they couldn't not create an account for it. But, the game itself was still playable I just couldn't download anything from EA store or the exchange.

My daughter and I have shared CD of Sims games for years, but normally one of us would buy at least one game and register it that way.

I remember when I had Sims 2 (discs) I had a run of different laptops (one didn't have good graphics, another I ruined after spilling coffee all over it etc) Each time, I installed on a new PC using the same serial number on the CD and it was fine. No problems at all. I don't know about playing with origin though.

Now this is disturbing..... seeing that it is different games even on the same account, why would they be bothered how many games one has installed.
I own two pc's, and have the game installed on both (the one currently only a backup for if....), and I have the sims 3 and the sims 4 installed.
Does this meen that one can not play both games from two different computers.....for us creators it is not so far fetched you know.

Timmer_man, I do hope you will be able to resolve the mater with them..... it should not always be about the money for them.

I agree Anita, I still have games on my old laptop with origin! :girlie5:
I wonder if Sam has seen this? She has had issues with Origin.

I just seen this post...and I told you so..

I told everyone, but nobody would listen to me..Origin is greedy, selfish, liers, and thieves..I told everyone..
I will NEVER, EVER buy another game from Origin..NEVER..

Please listen to me..DO NOT register your games..sooner or later they will do this to Sims3, 4, and ALL other Sims games..like they did to me with my Sims2..

They stole ALL of my Sims2 disks..can't play them ever again..they stole ALL of my digital Sim2 games THAT I PAID FOR..and I can't play ANY of those ever again..just the Ultimate Collection..now I am sitting here in tears..

I warned everyone..but nobody would listen..

Thank you so much Crissi, it's beautiful

I have Sims on discs and think I have installed my game on 10 different computers and have never had any problems but here you do not have to register the game to use it.

Thank you Crissi for the beautiful signature

If I hadn't registered my disks..I would still be able to use them..it just when you register them through Origin you will loose them..that is all I am saying..

Up until they put out the Ultimate Collection I was able to play the disks and the digitals..not long after that is when I lost everything..I have paid for..

I get so angry when I see others that are going through the same things I have been through..and when I talk about it, it gets me angry..I'm sorry..

I asked EA how long this has been an issue and the guy said over 2 years now. I am so angry about this. Only possible to register once. I think that they should put this in big print on the cd's/dvd's so that you are aware of the fact before you buy.

That is a little ridiculous, especially if its a game you bought yourself and not boot-legged. All of my Sims 2 games are still in the original disc form, so needless to say I have gone through many computers since the early days of TS2. I have never had any issues with uploading my discs on any of the computers I've used. I know a few are even replacement discs from Amazon or some where similar and again, no issue.

Seems to me if its a known issue then EA would have some better answer for it other then "oh we know."  computersmi

EA is one -of many- greedy companys; nothing else. They try to get more and more money - from us.
And they're not alone, just look around. It's never enough: we have to pay taxes and public charges - we always have to buy new equipment because of planned obsolescence... onstrike

I never registered my Sims2 -and stay away from Origin. I don't need an Ultimate collection with THIS price^^

I didn't know or understand what I was doing back then..and they should have told us all this when they put that Ultimate Collection out..I got it for a back up just in case one of my disks broke..now that is what I have to play all the time..
