Hi guys! I'm literally the same, I've been downloading stuff non stop for like two weeks xD Everyday, I download a new thing. Right now my cc folder, well the one containing only build and buy objects has almost 12 thousand items in it.

Does your game lag with many items? I recently used this program called Bulk Rename Utility, which gets rid of signs such as dots, commas, question marks etc. and my game is running a bit more smooth! There are still times where the game takes a while to load stuff :)

Daria - That's funny you said that about Downloading CC everyday, I went on a MAJOR D/L spree last week and I've am still currently in the process of cleaning out my mods folder and organizing, so I can merge it all.

I also use that program to rename everything before I merge, but I had a problem with not being able to search because it would crash so I've been adding things a few creator folders at a time, opening up the game, testing if I could still search then pulling out all the fugly, broke, or just not wanted objects and saving the room, then using  program Melisa told us about called Tray Importer that will open up all the folders of the things saved in the room so you can waaaalahhhh, just delete the unwanted CC!

It's long and about sick of doing it, but I've gone down from about 17GB to 12GB just deleting unwanted stuff. I'm not even done yet, but I'll do walls and floors and doors and windows next.

THEN ... because I've saw SOOOOOO many duplicates of the same thing, I don't mean duplicate files that would conflict, but where different creators have converted the same thing over and over again. So once I've gone thru all of my folders and deleted what I don't want, I'll load up my entire mods folder again (unmerged) and pull out all the duplicate conversions and delete those.

And finally once I'm all done and I can search, I'll merge it all and be soooo happy to have a clean out organized folder full of only stuff I will use.

I would seriously look into merging your files tho, that helped with loading time for me tremendously!

I love how much I can relate to all of you! I am ADDICTED to CC! I think I like the actual shopping for CC part and decorating more than actually playing! I cannot go one day without downloading at least one thing! so glad i'm not alone.

OHhh Megan, you should really look into merging! It saved me half the load time at least and I don't have any lag, but again, I don't really play so I don't have a sim with heavy poly items on either. But, I don't shy away from using high-poly objects when I decorate tho.

TJ, I did merge some of the items before, but I had to delete them, because it took ages for my game to load. I decided to put all of my CC for sim creating in one folder and all the deco and objects go to second.

Recently I saved my RP house, used Tray Importer to get all the cc that I used in the house, and then I made another seperate folder for only my RP blog, where I only have the things that I need, which makes the game so much faster and smoother.

Thank you for the links Suzanne, I did use two of them before, but will check them again, just to remind myself. Thank you! :)

Awesome, Daria...

...however, I have a question - you said that when you did merge your cc that your game took a long time to load - how much cc did you merge? (as in the size of your Mods folder) :D

Agh, I'm scared to even check haha. It says that my merged folder is 6.74GB. I basically merged all of items of one creator and repeated with others, maybe thats why haha! I'm planning on sorting out all of the cc, but just thinking about that gives me a headache haha!

lol, no worries, Daria :D

My 38ish gb of 98% merged cc takes about 25 minutes to load...

...that's why I was asking how much and how long :D

In comparison, my unmerged game consisting of 5.66 gb takes about 5 minutes to load.

If your game is taking really long to load (use the above for comparison), there may be a piece of bad cc, or you simply need to repair your game.

Well...not only do I have a massive amount of cc for S4.....like 50 min load time...

But..I've become so bored with S4 and its lack of a terrain tool...that I'm now messing around with S2.  AND - you all know what THAT means!!

(snicker, snort)...I'm now d/l for BOTH S2 and S4.  So, I don't wanna hear or see it...I'm sure I'm the grand master of dl  flyer with no hope for a cure   runcircle

God bless your computer Darlene! Haha!

Since I used the bulk rename tool, my games loads much faster than before. Once I had a problem were I had to leave my computer on for almost 24 hours, to let the game load, which it didnt. I think there were some Sims 3 files in there, which I got rid of now. But I will keep that in mind, thank you Suzanne! :)

LOL Skanning! I think you just like to shop for the sims!

But, I know what you mean, I still have a hard time not going back to TS3, there is so much awesome stuff or that game! Not to mention everything that you can do on it! But .... the lag, the lag, the lag! That's what keeps me from doing it!

Welcome to my world, Darlene! I've been meaning to get into TS4 again for ages and have been collecting cc for months. That on top of all the TS2 stuff I still have... Well I won't go into how big my folder is at the moment. It's so much fun shopping for two games though!

I know the struggle!
I have spent hours trying to get som sort of order, but my mods folder is still a mess.
Do anyone know how much CC you can have 'til the game crashes and doesn't work like it should? Know what I mean?

Anna - I think it totally depends on the individual person's computer. Like for example Suzanne, had over 50GB of CC (that's merged) and her game runs fine with that.

I tried to load 23GB of CC (unmerged) and I never could get mine to load (or I was just impatient after 70 minutes of waiting)! LOL

Merging helps A LOT! With load times for sure!

And, another thing I've been doing (although it's extremely boring and tedious, I've been opening up all of my CC in Sims 4 Studio and deleting all the textures of things I know I'll never use to lessen the file sizes, I am also deleting unwanted CC with it too)

Darlene, you are too funny, lol <3 How much cc do you have for that load time? Is it merged or unmerged?

You are welcome Daria - bad/wrong game cc does kill the loading... I can't tell you how many times I've done that. It has made me veeeerrrry careful of what I do download. And, with the Mod Conflict Detector, you can find bad/wrong cc... although a lot of TSR stuff WILL show up as ts3 - if it is ANumbersWoman, Mutske, SimMan123... creators that have been there a long time, it is okay; they just forget to change a tag or something :D

AngelMatrix - no worries - you can still be a cc download junkie, hehe... you are just picky :D Welcome to Bloom/Cherry Blossom Sims and a whole, wonderful group of kindred souls <3

Anna - look in the Help Center, both Game Help AND Tech Edge for threads detailing how to organize cc, merging, renaming, etc. There are several How To's there that may be of great help to you :D

TJ - would you be willing to write up how you go about doing that? Deleting textures/swatches? That would be a fantastic addition as a tutorial :D - maybe I could help? We could skype, lol <3

I know the feeling. Every time I start up my game I'm scared it's the day it's all going to go down in flames, so much cc on my poor computer lol. The whole finding a problem then having to sort through all your folders and mods to track down the broken thing... nightmare!

I also have tons of things I've downloaded thinking I was going to use them and then get in game and start doing my thing, only to not end up using most of the things or have so much to choose from that I overlook things I wanted to use in particular. Get done, taking screen shots, putting a video together.. ect.. and realize... ugh I forgot to use *such and such* sigh. lol Can still NEVER have enough things though, imo.

I've definitely had this problem a lot too - only just recently (like two days ago) discovered CC merging and that's been a godsend. I have a killer computer too that can probably handle more, but even with that the wait times are getting ridiculous.
... but how can I possibly resist all the things I might POTENTIALLY use in a build one day? The chugging wait time associated with my Misc Decorations section alone---

I've recently deleted all my CC and started over so I've been spending more time now getting more CC than actually playing the game.

Take a look in the Help Center under Game Help and Tech Edge for a variety of tutorials on how to do things to reduce game lag, load time, allow more cc, remove unwanted cc, etc...

...I believe you will find things there that will reduce the love/hate relationship all of us have who love to download tons of cc <3

Suzanne - I think that's a great idea for a tutorial about how to delete unwanted texture swatches!

And, absolutely we can skype and do it together!
